December Book (Tonya's pick)

I can't believe that Thanksgiving has come and gone and it's already December. It feels like once we get to October things just start to accelerate. I want it to slow down just a bit. Thank you Becca for hosting book club and our first How to Host a Murder party for book club. We all had a blast. The costumes were all fun, and most of us had a hard time figuring out who the "murderer" was. We will definetly have to do this again.

This month's book is a pick by one of our new members Tonya. I know Tonya is a big fan of Louis L'Amour, so it's only fitting that she choose The Walking Drum. Most of you may think this is a western and we have not read a western before, but you would be wrong this is an adventure story....but there are horses. :) I love that we have a wide variety of books we have read so far for book club.

Have a wonderful Christmas and Holiday season! May God bless us every one!

November Book "And Then There Were None" Agatha Christie

I would normally thank the host in this post, but since I hosted I will pass that and move on. As always we had a fun book club, but missed a few of our regulars this month.

So this month's book is Rebecca's pick. She and Ashley switched. The book is "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie. It's a murder mystery appropriate for our How to Host a Murder mystery dinner party on November 20th. Rebecca has handed everyone their parts, and those that don't have parts need to come (dressed up in 1930's clothes) dressed as spectators/dinner party guests. Yes, we need you too.

Here are the details

November 20th
5:00pm (this is a somewhat lengthy game)
Rebecca's house

This is going to be so much fun!

Thank you Amy for hosting book club! We all had a great time as usual. This months book is The Summer Kitchen by Lisa Wingate. This book got high ratings, so hopefully it's a good read. Book club is still TBD. We'll keep you posted on FB, which is probably where most of us look now anyway.

September Book (Amy's pick) Mockingjay

Well, August has come and gone, the kids are back in school and the weather is starting to turn. Pretty soon cooler days will be upon us, but hopefully we still have several weeks before that happens.
A big Thanks to Julie who hosted book club this month! We had a great time as always.

So this month's book is the much anticipated Mocking Jay by Suzanne Collins. It's the 3rd and final in the Hunger Games trilogy. I hope you all enjoy, and if you haven't read the first two, I highly recommend it. They are fantastic!

This months book club will be Sept. 18th @ 6pm at Jen Grove's house. That would be me. It will be posted on FB with all the details. Enjoy your reading this month!

August's Book (Jen G. pick)

I hope that everyone enjoyed last month's book. It's a great series. Those who did not get around to reading it, I highly recommend putting it on your to read list for a future time. A bit thanks to Keri for hosting last month! I'm still thinking about those french toast kabobs...they were delicious, and such a great idea too!

This months book is "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. It's a historical fiction that takes place in the 1960's during the Civil Rights movement. It's a New York Times Bestseller which really doesn't mean anything because so was "The Zookeepers Wife", but so far I'm really enjoying this book. I hope you all get a chance to read this month.

Julie will be hosting book club this month. The tentative date and time is August 14th at 6pm. Be sure to check FB for a more definitive date and time. Happy Reading all!

July's Book - Keri's pick

June has come and gone, and it is now July. It's hard to believe that summer is flying by so quickly. Thank you Julia for hosting book club last month. I hope everyone enjoyed Eclipse. This time around was a little different. We have usually all gone together opening weekend, but this year the movie fell on a holiday, so it was difficult for all of us to get together. Still I hope everyone enjoyed the movie. It was a lot better than both the 1st & 2nd movie.

I hope everyone enjoyed last month's book too, and are keeping up with FaceBook to get all the updates.

This months book is Keri's pick, Son of the Shadows by Julliet Maurillier. It's the 2nd book in the Daughter of the Forest Trilogy which if you haven't read yet, you must!

Happy Reading! Next Book Club TBA!

June's Book

It's once again a new month which means time for a new book! This is Julia's month and the pick is "The Scarlett Pimpernel" by Baroness Orczy. Our author has a fancy title. I'm very excited to read this month's book because it's a classic, and has had several movie versions made from it. That usually means it's going to be a pretty good book. I believe we will be having a book club meeting possible during the week sometime this month. Check out our FB page for more details.

Happy Reading all!

May's Book

I hope everyone is enjoying this month's book so far. I know I am. It's hard to believe, but April is almost over! Didn't we just have Christmas. It's time to start thinking about book club again. YAY! This month's book was chosen by Jen H. It's called The Girls from Ames. by Jeffrey Zaslow. It's a true story, about a group of friend from Ames Iowa. We've had a lot of fiction lately, so this month is a change of pace.

Book club meeting this month will be Saturday May 22nd at my house. It feels good to say that! Let's say 6:00pm. I will call every one the closer it gets. This is the only weekend in May that will work for me. I hope that's good for everyone else.

Happy Reading All!

April's Book Rebecca's pick

Book club was a good time as usual in March. I hope everyone enjoyed the book last month. Strange title, but a feel good story.

This month's book Daughter of the Forest (The first book in the Seven Waters series) by Juliet Marillier is a book in the fantasy realm which I am really excited about.

I love the variety we have from murder mystery to feel good books, to political books, fantasy, you name it we read it.

Book club date & time TBA. Enjoy your reading!

March Book

A big thanks to Julie for having book club at her home on Sat. The food was delicious! Thank you again Mande (& Ava Sweet Cakes) for bringing the sweets. That was the most delicious white german chocolate cake I have ever had, considering that was my first experience with a white german chocolate cake. YUM!!!

So a few of us read last month's book, and I think we have come to the conclusion that the book was dry at first, pretty good in the middle with a weird ending. We also know that in Sweden they do things a little different than we are used to. To each their own.

This months book has been chosen as a top readers pick from a few different authors. "The Geurnesy Literary Potato Peel Pie Society" It's a book about love & friendship which should be a nice change after last months book. I love that we have variety in our book club.

Book club meeting is still to be determined, but I will update when I have more info. Enjoy your reading this month.

New Playlist

I've updated the Blog playlist for Valentines Day. Just ignore that it says New Moon Soundtrack. It's supposed to say Happy Valentine's Day, but it didn't work. At least the music is on there.

Thank you Rebecca for hosting book club last month. We had a really great time! Also a big thanks to Mande & Julie for bringing the beautiful and very delicious cupcakes! I'm still thinking about them.

Happy New Year! January's Book

Happy New Year my friends! I hope this year is wonderful for each and every one of us, and that our New Year's resolutions, or goals will be reached. That's the challenge right?

A big thank you to Amy for hosting book club last month. We had a great time, and missed those who couldn't make it.

It's Julie's pick this month, and the book is...drum roll please.....Glenn Beck Arguing with Idiots! So, get your political hats on, and I bet we can have good discussion about this book.

Rebecca is hosting our meeting this month. Mark your calendars for January 17th @6:00pm. See ya'll then!
