December Meeting

Thanks to those who were able to attend we had a good meeting. The general consensus on The Christmas Sweater was that it was an inspirational book and a good pick for the season. We also played the game Would You Rather?. It was a fun game and would be a good game for a mixed group as we all tended to think a like. Those who are out of towners feel free to share your thoughts, if you haven't already, via comments.

We all understand the chaos of this time of year and we are sorry if we missed you this month.

Next Months Meeting will be on January 24th in order to give everyone decent recovery time from the holiday. It will be at Becca's house, time TBA. Hope to see you there.

Also back is the Twilight movie soundtrack extended by the Author's soundtrack enjoy! Any suggestions for other songs or changes can be sent to the blog master's e-mail.

This Months Book and Bio

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving. Well, now that we are all stuffed with turkey, ham, and all the fixings it's time for a good book.

This months book, The Christmas Sweater, was chosen by me (Julie). I picked this book because I am a huge Glenn Beck fan, but the story and the message were very fitting for this time of year and very relatable.

Here is a little about me:

I was born and raised right here in Grand Junction, Colorado. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. After high school I attended Rick's College (BYU-I) and Mesa State. While attending Mesa and working, Becca and I were roommates. It was awesome, we had a great time.

I served a full time mission in the Illagan Philippines Mission and learned to speak tagalog. After my mission I attend BYU for a semester before my husband proposed and brought me home again to Mesa State.

We were married in the Mt. Timpanogus temple on March 19th 1999. A year and a day later we had our first son with three more sons to follow. We are currently expecting our fifth child in May (probable another boy but hoping for a girl).

My favorite color is green. I enjoy sewing, hiking, reading, blogging, talking politics, going to watch the boys wrestle and being a mom.

Note: Please also RSVP for the meeting on the 13th so I have a count. Hope to see you there! Happy Holiday

Twilight Movie and Meeting

The meeting and movie were great! It was so good to see everyone. Especially those from out of town! The verdict on The Other Boleyn Girl is that, while good historically it was a little smutty but over all not a bad read.

The Twilight movie while Extremely cheese was an enjoyable movie and as for me it has grown on me since I saw it and I would watch it again. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks to all who came.

I'm tyring to get a list together of those who would like to be members so we can communicate more effectively. Please e-mail me so I can compile the list: mejofred@yahoo.com . I will e-mail when the bog gets updated so we can all be on the same page so to speak.

The next meeting will be December 13th @ 6:30 @ Julie's house. So start reading The Christmas Sweater now. It's a quick read even for a slow reader(me), but if you like it like I did you may want to read it twice. GOOD BOOK!

Get fat on turkey and love! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Becca's Bio and Updates for the Saturday Nov. 22nd Meeting

Here are a few updates for our meet. We will meet at Olive Garden at 11:00 for lunch and book discussion. We will then go to the 2:15 matinee of TWILIGHT at the Regal Cinema. As we said before, it is advisable to buy your ticket now. This can be done at Fandango.com.

With each month's book I will post the bio. of the book chooser. This month that is Becca:

I wanted to start this book club to combine some of the things I enjoy most out of life, my friends, my family, and reading. My sister was actually the inspiration to this when last summer we would stay up late and use up many hours of the day talking about books we were both reading. Hearing different viewpoints on the same book was quite enjoyable. None of this reading was guilt-free however, since we were both preparing for big tests. Things are finally calming down in my life. I am finished with residency, finished with “The Big Test” (assuming I passed), and I am getting settled into a new job that I love. I picked The Other Boleyn Girl simply because it received great reviews and I have wanted to read it for quite sometime. I do enjoy a good historical fiction. Last book I read was Pride and Prejudice because it is my sister’s favorite book. I can see why, it is quite good. The current book I am reading (again) is Gone with the Wind, which happens to be my favorite book. We are actually doing a favorite book trade, which isn’t really fair on her part since it is 950 pages. Just a little more about myself: I am the wife of 10 years to a great man who is supportive enough to put me through 8 years of school and 3 years of residency. We have a beautiful fiery red-headed little girl named Loralei. My favorite music is alternative rock and 80s. My favorite color is red. My favorite food is spaghetti. I love being outdoors. Lastly, for fear of getting too wordy, I am truly excited to share books with my friends and just as excited to get to know new people through this experience. HAPPY READING !!!
